The Paquita Wreck was an old German sail ship that struck Knysna Heads in the beginning of the 19th century.

One of the best wreck dives near Knysna is without doubt the Paquita which ran ashore in 1903. She was a 460 ton German vessel en route to Barbados when she struck Knysna Heads. Its iron plates are brilliantly lit with corals and its anchors are still visible. You will find seahorses, nudibranches, black tails, two tone finger fin and steen bras. As she sits in the mouth of a large lagoon it is particularly important to time your dive. Ask local shops as they know the tide tables and can often help you by telling what time is best. It's most common dive plan is as a drift dive starting in the channel an hour before the change of tides.
