Tapas Jetty is actually a shore dive from Thesens Jetty inside the lagoon near Knysna. This pier on Thesen Island was used by sea farers, tradesmen and used to have a railway line connected with it. Nowadays it is a muck diving paradise with many scrap metal lying on the ocean floor. You will find parts of the long forgotten railway, tires and bottles. Pay attention to tiny creatures such as its most famous inhabitant the Knysna seahorse, nudibranches and small blennies. It is best dived during high tide and visibilities are often poor because of its silty bottom. It is a shallow and brilliant muck dive site nevertheless, where you can find unexpected things.
