One of the two wrecks near Aliwal Shoal is the MV Produce, a steel Norwegian cargo tanker. This 176 meter long ship struck Aliwal Shoal's northeast pinnacle on August 11, 1974 when she was freighting molasses. There were no fatalities but it took only hours before the vessel sank, nowadays sitting on her starboard side in the sand.

The Produce is split into three parts; the stern and bow still relatively intact and the center of the wreck is mostly collapsed. The wreck is loaded with large game fish such as salmon, kingfish, tuna and brindle bass. Although we don't encourage entering the vessel without proper training, we would mention that there are several huge moray eels living inside the wreck especially in the toilet area. Other tropical species known to inhabit the wreck are harlequin goldies and lionfish. Currents are often strong at this beautiful but advanced dive site.
